LifeProof iPhone 5 Belt Clip Review

LifeProof iPhone 5 Belt Clip Review appeared first on DiscountCell Reviews.

LifeProof iPhone 5 Belt Clip Fast Facts:

Pro’s: Slim profile, light weight, complete access to all iPhone functions, durable, one-handed access, secure locking switch, available in two sizes.
Con’s: Expensive, industrial look, only compatible with LifeProof Fre, can’t interchange between 1.5 and 2 inch sizes.
Recommendation:  The LifeProof iPhone 5 Belt Clip is the perfect companion to the LifeProof Fre.  However, like the LifeProof Fre, the LifeProof iPhone 5 belt clip is expensive, has an industrial look, and only works with the LifreProof iPhone 5s Case.

Manufacturer: LifeProof
Dimensions: Fits belts up to belt sizes 1.7″ thick with 1.5″ clip and 2.3″ thick with 2″ clip.
Price: $29.95 on DiscountCell.com.

LifeProof iPhone 5 Belt Clip Review

Like all LifeProof products, the LifeProof iPhone 5 Belt Clip is excellently engineered and very well constructed.  The belt clip offers full access to all of the iPhone 5′s various speakers, buttons, and ports, allowing comfortable use of the iPhone 5 while installed.

One of the first things I noticed about the LifeProof iPhone 5 Belt Clip was how light it is.  At less than 2 ounces, the case does not weigh down my belt or greatly increase the weight of my phone.

LifeProof iPhone 5 Belt Clip

Slide the switch to green to release the phone, and slide the switch to red to lock the phone.

Ease of access is also very good.  With one hand I can quickly and easily place or remove the iPhone 5 from the clip.  Also, the LifeProof iPhone 5 Belt Clip features a secure locking switch on the top to keep the phone from falling out.  To use the switch, simply slide it to red to lock the phone or slide it to green to release it.

LifeProof iPhone 5 Belt Clip

The LifeProof iPhone 5 Belt Clip comes with 2 size belt clips: 1.5″ and 2.”

The LifeProof iPhone 5 Belt Clip has two different belt size options.  The holster can be used with either a standard 1.5 inch thick belt or with a thicker 2 inch duty belt.  However, once you choose a size and attach the appropriate belt clip, the clip cannot be removed and exchanged for another size.

The 1.5 inch clip will fit most common belts, while the 2 inch belt fits most police, military, and construction work belts.  Also, both sizes of the LifeProof iPhone 5 Belt Clip can rotate a full 360 degrees once installed.

The only downside of the LifeProof iPhone 5 Belt Clip is its cost.  When many other products like the OtterBox Defender include plastic belt clips for free, the $29.95 price tag of the LifeProof iPhone 5 Belt Clip is a little steep.  Combined with the already high $79.95 price of the LifeProof Fre, in total it costs more than $100 just for a case and for a holster.

Conclusion

For those who don’t mind the high price tag, the LifeProof iPhone 5 Belt Clip is a great accessory.  The clip offers full access and increased portability to the iPhone 5 without adding unnecessary weight or bulk.

LifeProof Fre iPhone 5s Case Review

LifeProof Fre iPhone 5s Case Review appeared first on DiscountCell Reviews.

LifeProof Fre iPhone 5s Fast Facts:

To Purchase, click here: http://www.discountcell.com/

Pro’s: Comprehensive water, dirt, and shock protection, Works with Touch ID, Slim profile.
Con’s: Expensive, reduced speaker quality, reduced screen responsiveness.
Recommendation:  The LifeProof Fre iPhone 5s is the best waterproof case on the market.  However, unless you need a case that will specifically protect your phone against water, I recommend a less expensive case for everyday protection.

Manufacturer: LifeProof
Dimensions: 1.25 cm (1/4 inch) x 13.7 cm (5 7/16 inch) x 6.7 cm (2 5/8 inch).
Price: $79.95 on DiscountCell.com.

Protection

LifeProof Fre iPhone 5s Case

The LifeProof Fre iPhone 5s Case effectively protects against water damage.

The LifeProof Fre iPhone 5s provides unparalleled water-proofing protection.  In fact, I first saw the Lifeproof Fre iPhone 5s while scuba diving.  One of the divers had a LifeProof Fre installed on his iPhone 5s and was using it to take photos of the diving class.

The LifeProof Fre totally seals the iPhone 5, allowing the phone to be fully immersed in water up to 2 meters (6.6 feet) deep without sustaining any damage.

Also, because the phone is completely enclosed, the LifeProof Fre also protects against dust or debris.

The LifeProof Fre iPhone 5s case has good but not fantastic drop and shock protection.  While the LifeProof Fre meets military drop test specifications up to 6 feet high, the case will not sustain drops from much higher and will not survive frequent drops.

Functionality

The LifeProof Fre iPhone 5s case allows access to all of the iPhone 5s’ cameras, buttons, speakers, and ports, even while the phone is underwater.  Although all of the buttons and cameras are fully enclosed, special glare-resistant plastic allows full function of the cameras and external plastic buttons on the case correspond with the buttons on the iPhone 5s.

Perhaps the most striking feature however is the special membrane over the fingerprint sensor that is tough enough to keep out water but sensitive enough to read fingerprints.

LifeProof Fre iPhone 5s Case

LifeProof’s patented weather-resistant headphone jack.

Also, one of the features that makes LifeProof cases unique is the waterproof headphone jack adapter.  The adapter securely seals with the rest of the case while providing access to the port, allowing use underwater.

Unfortunately, the LifeProof Fre iPhone 5s case does not come with a belt clip.  However, LifeProof does make an optional belt clip that can purchased for use with the iPhone 5s Fre case for $29.95.  For more information on the LifeProof Fre iPhone 5s case belt clip, click here: http://www.discountcell.com/cellular/p/1357-lp.

Conclusion

The LifeProof Fre iPhone 5s case is the most comprehensive waterproof rugged case on the market.  However, unless you specifically need to protect your phone against water damage, the high price tag makes other options more attractive for everyday drop and dust protection.

LG Flex OtterBox Defender Review

LG Flex OtterBox Defender Fast Facts

Manufacturer: OtterBox
Dimensions: 17 cm (6 3/4 inch) x 9.3 cm (3 5/8 inch) x 1.7 cm (3/5 inch)
Belt Clip? Yes
Price: $54.95 at DiscountCell.com

LG Flex OtterBox Defender

The LG Flex OtterBox Defender features 3 layers of protection.

Pro’s

The LG Flex OtterBox Defender case offers durable protection to the LG Flex without taking away from any of the phone’s features.  The LG Flex OtterBox Defender features 3 layers of protection with an optional 4th layer when using the belt clip.

First, the LG Flex is protected on the back by a soft layer of micro-fiber foam and on the front by a durable clear plastic screen-protecting membrane.  Then, a durable yet flexible hard-plastic case adds additional structural support to the entire phone.  Last, a hard rubber case coats around the entire phone (except for the screen) and acts as a shock absorbing layer.

LG Flex OtterBox Defender

The OtterBox Defender can flex right along with the LG Flex, even with several protective layers.

However, perhaps the most striking feature is the fact that the LG Flex OtterBox Defender can still bend and flex with the LG Flex despite having 3 protective layers.

Also, while the LG Flex OtterBox Defender offers access to all of the various ports, cameras, and buttons of the LG Flex, the case includes special doors and flaps to protect any ports or openings from dust and debris.

Con’s

Not so much the fault of the case as it is of the phone, the LG Flex OtterBox Defender is very large and not very comfortable to wear on a belt, despite the included belt clip.  Also, the phone case is difficult to take out from the belt clip once installed.

LG Flex OtterBox Defender

The OtterBox Defender for LG Flex has 8 secure points that need to be opened in order to install/uninstall the phone.

While a secure fit inside the case is desirable, installing the LG Flex into the OtterBox Defender is a little bit difficult and takes more than a full minute.  This is more of a drawback because the LG Flex OtterBox Defender is not waterproof.  If water manages to get into the case, it takes a while to remove the phone so that it can be dried before causing damage.

Lastly, the unique curve of the phone and therefore of the case make the viewing stand feature of the LG Flex OtterBox Defender’s belt clip impossible to use.

Conclusion

The LG Flex OtterBox Defender offers more thorough and comprehensive protection than any other  LG Flex rugged phone case on the market.  However, due to the LG Flex’s large size (really more of a table than a phone), the case is uncomfortable to carry using the included belt clip.

Stanley Foreman Vs OtterBox Defender

Stanley Foreman Vs OtterBox Defender appeared first on DiscountCell Reviews.

)

The Stanley Foreman and the OtterBox Defender share many similarities.  For example, both cases offer rugged protection for the iPhone 5 and both feature hard plastic belt clips that make them top choices with construction firms.

However, while both cases have dual-layer drop protection and come standard with a hard plastic belt clip, each case has its own unique design.  For example, the Stanley Foreman loads vertically into its plastic holster while the OtterBox Defender loads horizontally.  Also, the belt clip on the Stanley Foreman is a little bit bigger while the belt clip on the OtterBox Defender is a little bit stronger.

The following reviews the pro’s and con’s of each case.

Stanley Foreman Vs OtterBox Defender

Stanley Foreman

Stanley Foreman Vs OtterBox Defender

Stanley Foreman iPhone 5s CaseStanley Foreman

Manufacturer: Incipio

Price: $34.95
Dimensions: 6.5 cm X 13 cm X 1.5 cm

Pro’s

The Stanley Foreman features two layers of protection.  First, a flexible silicon layer fits around the phone to absorb shock while a second hard plastic layer adds structural support and durability.

The hard plastic belt clip offers some protection as well.  And, although the Stanley Foreman’s belt clip cannot be used as a viewing stand, it can swivel 360 degrees.

The case is also very lightweight and features a textured grip strip on the back.

Lastly, the Stanley Foreman case is compatible with both the iPhone 5 and the iPhone 5s, a useful characteristic if purchasing in bulk for a variety of different devices in an organization.

Con’s

The biggest downside to the Stanley Foreman is the lack of an integrated screen protector.  While the Stanley Foreman does come with an adhesive screen protector, dust can get beneath the edges of the case and damage the iPhone.

Also, the Stanley Foreman relies on friction to stay inside the holster.  While effective right out of the box, this method will not work over time as the rubber case wears down and no longer maintains a solid grip on the plastic holster.  This is especially an issue when the belt clip is in the horizontal carrying position.

Although the Stanley Foreman has a built-in grip strip on the back, the sides of case are slippery and the texture of the back of the case collects dirt and dust.

OtterBox Defender

Stanley Foreman Vs OtterBox Defender

OtterBox Defender Case for iPhone 5OtterBox Defender

Manufacturer: OtterBox

Price: $29.95

Dimensions: 7 cm X 13.5 X 1.6 cm

Pro’s

In addition to the OtterBox Defender‘s dual-layer silicon and hard-plastic shock protection, the case features a fully-integrated screen protector.  The screen protector guards against dust, scratches, and minor splashes (but not immersions) of water.

Also, the OtterBox Defender features a clip that can rotate 360 degrees and  act as a viewing stand.  The OtterBox Defender Holster clips horizontally onto the Defender case using a secure 3-point connection.

Lastly, the inside of the case features an additional padded layer of protection to guard the back of the iPhone from scratches and other potential damage.

Con’s

The main downside of the OtterBox Defender is that the case adds a little bit more bulk than the Stanley Foreman.

Also, the OtterBox Defender case for iPhone 5 cannot also be used for the 5s.  However, OtterBox does offer a Defender model for the iPhone 5s that can be purchased here.

Conclusion

While both the Stanley Foreman and the OtteBox Defender for iPhone 5 share many simularities, both cases have distinct designs and characteristics.  The Stanley Foreman works with both the iPhone 5 and 5s, while the OtterBox Defender offers more thorough protection and durability.

Samsung Galaxy OtterBox Commuter Wallet Review

Samsung Galaxy OtterBox Commuter Wallet Review appeared first on DiscountCell Reviews.

Samsung Galaxy OtterBox Commuter Wallet Fast Facts:

To Purchase, click here: http://www.discountcell.com/

Pro’s: Innovative discrete wallet function, quality dual-layer drop protection, included screen protector, multiple colors.
Con’s: Slippery grip, limited wallet capacity.
Recommendation:  The OtterBox Commuter Wallet for the Samsung Galaxy S4 is a great accessory for people who only carry around 1-3 cards but is insufficient to completely replace a wallet if you carry cash.

Manufacturer: OtterBox
Dimensions: 14.1 cm (5 5/8 inch) x 7.7 cm (3 1/16 inch) x 1.8 cm (3/4 inch).
Price: $39.95 on DiscountCell.com.

Samsung Galaxy OtterBox Commuter WalletProtection

As with all OtterBox products, the Samsung Galaxy OtterBox Commuter Wallet offers quality drop, shock, and scratch protection.

The Samsung Galaxy Otterbox Commuter Wallet features three distinct levels of protection.  First, a shock-absorbent silicon layer covers the back, sides, and front bezel of the phone.  Then, a rigid hard plastic case covers the silicon layer to protect the Samsung Galaxy S4 from pressure damage.  Lastly, an adhesive screen protector is included to guard the Samsung Galaxy S4′s screen from scratches and other damage.

Together, these three levels provide durable protection against a variety of different hazards to make sure that your phone stays safe, regardless of the situation.

Samsung Galaxy OtterBox Commuter WalletFunctionality

As mentioned before, the Samsung Galaxy OtterBox Commuter Wallet is a good option for people who only carry around their license and maybe one or two other cards.  However, there is not enough storage space to carry around cash or more than 3 cards in total.

Cards can be placed into the wallet feature of the case by sliding down the cover located on the back.  If you want to store a credit card or another card with raised print or numbering, the card must be placed face-down to avoid catching on the case and closing improperly.

Samsung Galaxy OtterBox Commuter WalletCash does not fit well in the Samsung Galaxy S4 OtterBox Commuter Wallet.  Cash is difficult to access and tends to wad up or catch in the slide feature of the case.

With that said, the Samsung Galaxy OtterBox Commuter Wallet is very good at carrying credit cards.  A little lever on the inside of the case pushes down and the cards and keeps them from moving around making noise or getting damaged inside the case.  Also, the little lever makes it easy to pull out a single card or store 1-3 cards without slipping.

The wallet portion of the cell phone case is very discrete and un-revealing, keeping your credit card and other sensitive information safe and secure.

In regards to the overall feel of the case, some have criticized the outside coating of being too slippery, leading to frequent dropping.  However, The slippery coating is a great feature if the case is carried in a pocket, allowing for easy access and storage.

Conclusion

The Samsung Galaxy S4 OtterBox Commuter Wallet is a great accessory if you plan on only carrying around 1-3 cards.  However, if you intend on carrying cash or more cards, then the OtterBox Commuter Wallet does not have enough capacity to replace a traditional wallet.

Belkin Executive Folio for iPad Air Review

Belkin Executive Folio for iPad Air Review appeared first on DiscountCell Reviews.

Belkin Executive Business Folio Fast Facts:

To Purchase, click here: http://www.discountcell.com/

Pro’s:  Professional look, light-weight, multiple viewing positions, auto-wake magnets.
Con’s: insufficient drop protection, no dust or dirt protection.
Recommendation:  The Belkin Executive Business Folio provides professional-looking protection and portability for the iPad Air.  However, if you plan on taking your tablet outside or are prone to dropping it you may want to go with more rugged case.

Manufacturer: Belkin
Dimensions: 19.7 cm (7 3/4 inch) x 24.8 cm (9 3/4 inch) x 2 cm (3/4 inch).
Price: $42.95 on DiscountCell.com.

Belkin Executive Folio for iPad Air Review

Belkin Executive Folio

The Belkin Executive Folio is an excellent accessory for use in the office. The elastic hand strap makes it easy to hold your iPad Air while working online or presenting to clients.  The built-in business card and stylus holders are also nice features that add to the productivity and utility of the case.

Protection

The Executive Folio offers basic drop, scratch, and screen protection when closed but that’s about it.

The case is lined with soft micro-fiber to protect the iPad Air from scratches, both on the screen and on the body of the tablet.

However, one of the downsides of the Belkin Executive Folio is the fact that the case does not offer any screen protection when open.  To address this issue, I recommend pairing the Belkin executive Folio with a good adhesive screen protector.

Also, the Belkin Executive Folio does not protect against dust or water damage regardless if the case is open or closed.

Belkin Executive FolioFunctionality

The Belkin Executive Folio includes several features to enhance the functionality of the iPad Air.

First, the Belkin Executive Folio has holes and access to all of the various ports, cameras, and buttons on the iPad Air.  Also, the case features a special elastic hand strap for convenient carrying and one-handed tablet use.  To increase convenience even more, the case features two business card pockets right next to the hand strap on the inside of the case.

In addition to working as a portfolio, the Belkin Executive Folio doubles as a viewing stand.  Once opened the case can be positioned in four distinct viewing angles.  Two rubber stoppers on the bottom of the tablet cradle ensure that the iPad stays in place while positioned in each angle.

Lastly, a series of magnets work to both keep the case securely closed while in transit and to “wake up” the iPad Air when opened.

Installation is very easy.  Simply snap the iPad Air into the tablet cradle inside the case and you are ready to go.

Conclusion

The Belkin Executive Folio offers a professional look and increased functionality that are great for use in the office. However, if you are looking for more thorough protection, I recommend investing in either an OtterBox or LifeProof case.
