Tablet Wired Keyboards – An Education Must Have

Tablet Wired Keyboards – An Education Must Have appeared first on DiscountCell Reviews.

Bluetooth keyboards and folios have become inexpensive and popular.  For most these are a great solution when a keyboard is needed to be coupled with your tablet.  Bluetooth keyboard folios provide both a keyboard and a case to protect the tablet.  For K-12 though, Bluetooth keyboards can be a major headache and may not comply with state law regarding testing.

Bluetooth keyboards can be used by students to control tablets other than their own.  As a result, they are not secure for PARCC or other electronic standardized testing.  Wired keyboards, considered secure based on the direct connection to the tablet, are required by many states and school districts to ensure cheating by keyboard does not take place.  If an iPad Air, iPad Air 2, iPad Mini 2, iPad Mini 3 or other tablet is used, there is a secure wired keyboard available.

With wired tablet keyboards being a new product (only introduced in the last two years or so), updates and changes have been made as educators discover weaknesses with current products.  Some keyboard manufacturers produced products that had easy to remove keys.  As a result kids would move keys to different locations on the keyboard much to the annoyance of the next student to use the keyboard.  Even worse, keys would be removed and lost often requiring the purchase of an entirely new keyboard.

Belkin has spent considerable time and resources developing keyboards that are functional, secure, and student proof (as much as any product can be).  The new series of keyboards not only has pry proof keys but also built in stands for the tablet as well as stacking.  These keyboards come with either an Apple Lightning connector, Apple 30 pin connector or micro-usb connector.  The stand fits all cases we tested with the keyboards and worked well in securing the tablet.  One warning, the Apple connectors are not compatible with all cases including the Otterbox Defender and LifeProof cases.  These cases only fit the OEM charging connector so the Belkin connector is too wide for the case port opening.  With multiple contract solutions including WSCA-NASPO 1907, Digital Edge, Erie 1 Boces and multiple Texas Education District contracts, Discountcell has an easy path to purchase for almost any government or education entity.

A is for Alpha or A is for Apple?

A is for Alpha or A is for Apple? appeared first on DiscountCell Reviews.

Hot on the tail of the iPhone 6 release, is the potential of Samsung’s latest offerings. With the Samsung Galaxy Alpha making a few appearances in news feeds lately, there’s a lot of speculation as to just what the new device has to offer.

Samsung Galaxy Alpha Specifications Leaked
Earlier this year we started hearing rumors that Samsung is working on a device with a metal body. The company has always stuck with plastic for its flagship Galaxy S series and this rumor led many to believe that perhaps this year the company might stray from tradition. It did not and then we started to hear about a completely different device that was supposedly made out of metal.

Specifications are yet to be confirmed. However, the look and feel of the new Galaxy Alpha with its metal casing will spark a lot of interest, I’m sure. Something a little different from the norm. Here’s an article with a few more images to wet your appetite.

Additional Samsung Galaxy Alpha Photos Surface

A couple of days ago, alleged photos of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Alpha were leaked online. The photos showed off the metal frame of the handset and if you were hoping to see more images, thanks to a recent series of posts by @culeaks, additional photos of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Alpha have leaked online.

It looks attractive from what you can see. We’ll have to wait for the official promotions, but until then, here’s a video as to what consumers are hoping for.

It really is thin! Samsung have been listening to consumers requirements and incorporated them into the design.

So have Apple taken too long to release their next cell phone? With the constant release of Android phones, could this really have an impact on sales for the iPhone 6. I guess we’ll know come September time.

Samsung is Color Clever

Have you been keeping a close eye on a potential launch date for the Samsung Galaxy Note 4? Looks like you may not have to wait much longer as there are whispers of a very early September date making the rounds.

Samsung could launch Galaxy Note 4 on September 3: Here’s all you need to know
Samsung’s presence at IFA guarantees one thing, at least based on their past experience at the event. In all likelihood, Berlin will be where Samsung will unveil the much-anticipated Galaxy Note 4. And according to a report in Korea Times, the date of the announced will be September 3 before IFA even kicks off.

Is the next smartphone battle about to commence? The iPhone 6 release isn’t too far behind so it’s all heating up. The Apple/Samsung competition is always an interesting one to watch. Advertising campaigns are emerging from all angles, and consumers are engulfed with a frenzy of technology.

Billboards will be plastered and magazines and newspapers full of advertising. Maybe Samsung will use some of their color changing billboards to persuade consumers to buy their latest devices.

Color-Changing Billboards Correspond with Weather to Influence Emotions – PSFK
Color-Changing Billboards Correspond with Weather to Influence Emotions. If you’ve ever felt blue, seen red or been tickled pink, you know that color is closely linked to our emotions. Samsung wants to prove this with a series of interactive billboards that change color according to the weather.

I wonder if they do, and if you’re in a sunnier place in the world, there would be in increase in sales. The color having an impact on the viewers emotions. An interesting and clever way of advertising perhaps?

Babies and iPads!

Babies and iPads! appeared first on DiscountCell Reviews.

It’s not such a shock these days when you see a child with a cell phone. In previous years a youngster with an electronic device such as a phone or a tablet may have raised a few eyebrows. Now they are accepted as an educational tool and more and more parents are being encouraged to let their children get involved in technology. Even at 2 years old!

That is super cute, and demonstrates how parents and children can interact together in learning. Samsung has it’s own Kids Store which includes an array of fun and educational apps. I’m sure the kid in that video would love these…

Updated Samsung Kids Store now offers over 900 apps for children
Samsung has announced an update to their Kids Store, found on select devices. Now with more than 900 interesting, educational and fun child friendly apps. Check it out on your Galaxy S5 or Galaxy Tab S.

With all of these applications available, is it putting pressure on parents to spend more money, so that their child can keep up to date with the latest releases?  There are many free apps out there that kids love too. Here’s a demonstration:-

So this video was made back in September 2013, and one can only imagine that there are so many more available free apps on the market, for kids to get engrossed in. Technology is proving to be an impressive way of developing the mind of a child at a young age. As long as there’s a balance with using electronic devices and physical activity, then we have a generation of very intelligent children emerging.

President Unlocks Our Phone Jail Cells

President Unlocks Our Phone Jail Cells appeared first on DiscountCell Reviews.

You’re approaching the end of your cell phone contract and you’re someone who takes care of their technology. Your phone, once you remove the protective case is pretty much like new because you’ve taken all precautions to keep it safe. You’ve still got a great device in your hand, and it does all the things that you want it to do, the only problem is, your network carrier doesn’t and you’re stuck with a locked phone that you can only use if you re-new your existing contract. Well things may be changing…

President Obama To Sign Bill That Makes Cellphone Unlocking Legal
Back in 2013, there was a brief period in time in which unlocking your cellphone would be considered an illegal act. This is because a provision in the Digital Millenium Copyright Act had lapsed, although thankfully there are some in the government who worked swiftly to address that issue.

More flexibility and choice in today’s technology seems to be overwhelming for some if you’re not tech savvy. Unlocking phones being seen as something no longer frowned upon can only be a good thing. It means that those people who still have a healthy, happy cell at the end of their contract can shop around and look for something more competitive. Not everyone wants to upgrade their phone all the time. Many people are happy and familiar in the way that their existing device works, they just want to be able to obtain better value for money when the time comes from their carrier.

5 years in jail and half a million dollars! That’s certainly not a risk worth taking. However, people do take risks and it will be nice to finally think that the chance of being punished for a ‘crime’ that really should not be seen as one, and just a matter of consumer rights, is now being addressed and rectified.

Apple 4k Desktop Whispers

Apple 4k Desktop Whispers appeared first on DiscountCell Reviews.

Over the past few months the 4K tv has been on everyone’s “wish list” despite the expense. Living in the highest definition, digital world, has been the appeal to consumers and Apple have made sure they have a shot at the market, reportedly working on a 4K desktop.

Apple Reportedly Preparing 4K Desktop And 12-Inch MacBook For October Release
We expect to see a lot of interesting new products from Apple this fall, primarily new iPhones and iPads. There’s been chatter about new Macs as well and a report published today claims that this October the company is going to release a 12-inch MacBook as well as a 4K desktop.

With the up and coming release of their new iPhone 6 and 12 inch MacBook, this addition to their products will surely keep Apple in the technology headlines, together with the holiday shopping appeal for its potential release in October. Now who wouldn’t want one of those for Christmas!

Apple’s Busy Year-End Could Include A Fitness Wearable, 12″ Retina MacBook … – TechCrunch
It makes sense, then, that Apple is also rumored to be introducing new 4K-capable desktop hardware at the same time, in the form of either an iMac or a standalone Thunderbolt display.

We don’t like to mention the ‘C’ word in July, but in the technology world it’s the topic of conversation. Obviously the holiday season is when the big bucks exchange hands. The ‘technology kings’ rub their hands together as they see the dollars roll in, but with the price tags attached to these devices, we need to, as consumers, start saving that money to acquire what we desire.

Here’s a bit of a throwback video from 1988, demonstrating up and coming technology.

Check out that laptop! It’s hard to digest just how far we have come with our technology. Not to mention the laptop. So is it to early to start perusing what’s available for the holiday season? Do you already have your eye on the latest up and coming release? December will be here before you know it, together with the latest shopping frenzy!

Will Sony Be Doing Itself An Injustice?

Will Sony Be Doing Itself An Injustice? appeared first on DiscountCell Reviews.

The iPhone 6 gossip is making the rounds again and the latest article to attract attention is all about the devices camera spec. Firstly, a speculated 13-megapixel sensor in comparison to the iPhone 5′s 8-megapixel, shows a promising sign of improvement for those keen to use their smartphone for photography. Here’s and article with a little more information:-

iPhone 6 Said to Feature Sony’s 13-Megapixel Exmor IMX220 Camera Sensor Apple’s iPhone 6 could feature Sony’s Exmor IMX220 camera sensor, according to a post on Chinese Sony enthusiast forum Digi-Wo (Google Translate, via G for Games). The Exmor IMX220 features a 13-megapixel, 1/2.3” sensor and can record videos in 1080p. The sensor would also be a sizable improvement over the camera currently in the iPhone 5s, which uses an 8-megapixel, 1/3.2” sensor.

With the advances in the iPhone camera technology will Sony do itself an injustice causing the iPhone to steal the Xperia Z3′s thunder?

Xperia Z3 Looks Like It’s Already Here! Has everyone been keeping an eye on the Sony Xperia Z3?  It seems that there are some leaked images making an appearance at the moment, together with speculation that the new model is going to make the Z2 outdated after just a matter of months of its release.

So how important is camera spec to consumers? What’s the difference between Android and iPhones? How can you decide what your next upgrade is going to be?

Personally, the camera is important to me when I purchase a new phone. Gone are the days when I took my compact camera out with me in my purse, enabling me to shoot should the opportunity arise. Having a great camera on my smartphone means I’m ready at all times and I have to say has produced some pretty great results.

Sony in particular are a favorite, and so both devices will be giving each other a run for their money in the ever changing smartphone wars.

Are You in the ‘Land of Confusion’ with Tablets?

Are You in the ‘Land of Confusion’ with Tablets? appeared first on DiscountCell Reviews.

If you are technology savvy and know pretty much all you need to know about tablets, then you may find this article a little basic. However, there are many people out there who are still in the ‘Land of Confusion’ when it comes to these devices. The basic concept has been grasped – what exactly a tablet is and what it does, and we’ll go as far as to say that the temptation is there to make a purchase, but where to start! First things first, let’s take a look at some comparisons.

2014 Tablet Comparison Guide

Not much has changed since the last time we compared the top tablets, but with Samsung’s second wave of 2014 high-end Galaxy Tabs hitting store shelves, why not see how the landscape has shifted?

There are a number of factors to consider when purchasing a tablet. Size, weight, speed, price (of course) and even what color you want to make a statement with. From something bold and bright, to a device that’s standard in black or grey.

A useful guide for choosing a tablet. In particular, the suggestion about watching videos or visiting the store to check out the particular model you are interested in. You’re spending your precious money, so it’s important to do your research and make sure you buy the device that’s right for you. Check out the tablet accessories available too. You’ll discover a new passion for “technology shopping” with all the little add-ons that are available. Here’s one I find particularly appealing for those long road trips:-

Universal Tablet Headrest Mount Review
If you’ve ever taken a long road trip with kids, you know how long every unoccupied hour can be.  Fortunately, tablets and smartphones have made these trips easier by providing entertainment during long rides.

I don’t have kids, but I’m often a passenger, and a little entertainment on a 5 hour drive to the South would be welcomed with open arms.

Make purchasing your technology fun! Do your research, know your requirements and enjoy your new device and all it has to offer.

Xperia Z3 Looks Like It’s Already Here! appeared first on DiscountCell Reviews.

Has everyone been keeping an eye on the Sony Xperia Z3?  It seems that there are some leaked images making an appearance at the moment, together with speculation that the new model is going to make the Z2 outdated after just a matter of months of its release.

With the HTC One and Galaxy S5 being the big phones that everyone seemed to be talking about, have Sony decided to have more frequent releases to try and keep in line with their competitors?

Is this our first look at the Sony Xperia Z3?

Sony has gone flagship mad lately, releasing a new one every six months or so, so it’s about time we caught a glimpse of the Sony Xperia Z3…and we might just have done that thanks to a leaked image.

With the iPhone 6 looming for release in October, could Sony beat Apple to it and release something that gets tongues wagging?

A great display of the capabilities of the new Z3 (not too keen on the techno music in the background though!) However, with it being on the ‘leak’ side of information, there’s still a lot of speculation and not too much fact! We’ll be watching this space to see what Sony have to say.

Android ‘L’ to Tantalize the Taste Buds!

Android ‘L’ to Tantalize the Taste Buds! appeared first on DiscountCell Reviews.

We’ve all been waiting with bated breath as to what the new Android ‘L’ operating system is going to offer. There have been rumors starting to arouse as to what exciting features just might be available. Here’s a great article with a little more insight:-

Android L preview comes tonight: 5 features we are most excited about
For the first time, Google has given us a glimpse of its next iteration of Android ahead of its release. On the first day of its developers conference, Google introduced ‘L release’ without giving it any specific name, and kickstarted the guessing game for which dessert the search giant pick will next.

My particular interest is drawn to the battery life. At the moment my Android phone drains the battery super fast and I feel as though I’m forever having to put the thing on charge! Luckily I have lying around a few additional cell phone chargers in various locations, one being my car, that I can plug into.

So what exactly does the ‘L’ stand for? There’s a lot of speculation out there and suggestions that are somewhat amusing. Here’s an entertaining article sharing a few of the ideas that are making the rumor rounds.

Google unveils Android L: And the L stands for…?
Finally, the next iteration of Android is here with a refreshing new look and some cool improvements. Google has introduced it as ‘L release’ without giving any specific name, and has kickstarted the guessing game for which dessert the search giant pick would pick next.

Reading that has certainly tantalized my taste buds for something sweet! I guess we are just going to have to wait for the announcement. I’m off to the candy store!

Less of the Bulk!

Less of the Bulk! appeared first on DiscountCell Reviews.

It looks as though the toughest of all tablets is about to hit the streets. Armed with its own robust casing and not just your standard tablet cover accessory, which are a ‘must’ when protecting your iPad or Galaxy Notebook. The Bobcat Tablet could be just the technology device you’re looking for, if you do a lot of work outdoors or in conditions where your tablet is subject to a knock or two.

Xplore Technologies launches the Bobcat tablet; a rugged Windows 8.1 tablet that measures 21 mm in thickness
If some of us want the lightest tablet on the market, there’s also some people who want a tablet designed to be used in extreme conditions, like workers on a site.

Sounds like the perfect device to take to the beach if you ask me, with its great functionality in extreme temperature conditions and dust and water protection. I don’t think it could quite withstand a dunk in the ocean, it might do, but for that price I don’t think I’d risk it!

Here’s another article with some more information on the Xplore Bobcat, and why it would be the perfect option for other environments (not just the beach), such as warehouses and places of manufacturing and distribution:-

Xplore Technologies Introduces Its Thinner, Lighter, Fully-Rugged Windows Tablet – SYS-CON Media (press release)
Xplore Technologies Corp. (NASDAQ: XPLR), manufacturer of fully-rugged and ultra-rugged tablets, has announced Bobcat—a fully-rugged Windows tablet boasting the most comprehensive standardized interfaces available.

It looks as though we have come a long way with the rugged tablet. Check out this example that was used in 2009:-

Technology has advanced well in such a short space of time. Not only are devices faster and more efficient, they are more robust with less of the bulk. This isn’t the first rugged tablet from Xplore, it’s a design to compliment their existing tablet series. Watch this space!

There’s No Cell Phone on the Menu!

There’s No Cell Phone on the Menu! appeared first on DiscountCell Reviews.

The age of the smartphone has provided us with amazing technology, communication and innovation. We can talk to people all over the world, carry out our day to day business activities on the move and be constantly available. However, is that such a good thing?  Should we always be ‘eyes down’, faces glowing from the light of our iPhones and other handheld devices? There’s a time and a place where communication should only be with the immediate people around us, at the dinner table is the perfect example.

When Is It OK to Check a Smartphone at the Dinner Table?
Smartphones are clearly (sadly?) a significant part of modern life, so it’s probably helpful to create some rules for their use at restaurants and other mealtime occasions. Here’s a proposal for 21st-century dinnertime phone protocol

An entertaining and light hearted perspective on the frustrations of smartphone use at mealtimes. We all do it, we are all guilty of taking that quick glance when we should be engaging in family time at the table, a catch up with friends or even at a formal event.

Some obvious points of courtesy explained in the above video, that with this day and age, some people just seem to forget.

If you’re at a restaurant, then set your voicemail. You can pick up any messages once you’ve finished dining, and even make your return calls on your way home using a bluetooth headset or car kit.

Boost, Davis Flip Cell Phone Etiquette – MediaPost Communications
For all the concerns about appropriate cell phone etiquette in today’s society, perhaps there are indeed times when it’s more appropriate to check one’s phone rather than engaging with the people around you.

Next time you are sitting at the table and feel the urge to check your phone, just stop for one second and think about whether right at that moment it is really necessary. Enjoy the moment and the time you are spent with others. There’s no cell phone on the menu.

Amazon Fire Phone Ignites a Spark!

Amazon Fire Phone Ignites a Spark! appeared first on DiscountCell Reviews.

Today is the day that Amazon shows the world that its technology is not just about tablets. Its very first smartphone called the Amazon Fire Phone is making an appearance. Looking as though it could be pretty snazzy and start breathing down the necks of the big dogs such as HTC, Apple and Samsung.

Amazon unveils Fire Phone with eye-tracking tech
Building upon its wide expertise in the tablet space, Amazon has unveiled its first smartphone today. So yes, all those rumors were true after all. It’s called the Amazon Fire Phone and its main selling points are bound to be Amazon’s reach in terms of content services, as well as the unique 3D UI dubbed Dynamic Perspective.

It seems a little on the pricey side, but do all the incentives such as Amazon Prime subscription make up for it?

The 3D camera effect sounds interesting and we are yet to see this on other devices (as far as I am aware). It’s so clever! With the ability to scan almost anything and buy it from Amazon. What a way to make money!

FireFly: Amazon’s Fire Phone Can Identify Almost Anything – Gizmodo
Amazon’s new Fire Phone had to be about getting people to buy stuff from Amazon, right? Of course. Enter Firefly, which turns the Fire Phone into a sort of universal object scanner that’ll recognize books, DVDs, or jars of Nutella, and help you buy them – from Amazon!

So will Amazon be the next threat to take over the technology world, or will the competitors within the smartphone industry come up with something even more spectacular? Has the Amazon Fire ignited a spark?

Avoid A Sand Infested Device!

Avoid A Sand Infested Device! appeared first on DiscountCell Reviews.

Do you remember the days when you would take a trip to the beach, taking your paperback book, mp3 player and usually a camera to capture some memories of the day? Did you ensure that your electronic devices were stored safely to avoid any damage from water or sand? We made that extra effort didn’t we? These days we tend to have a device about our person, each and every day that can perform all of these tasks. We can read a book, listen to our favorite music or snap the kids building a sand castle all through the magic of our cell phones. However, are we so used to just carrying them around now, that we don’t think ahead about protecting them where conditions that are a little different from everyday life could cause long lasting damage.

How to make sure your iPhone is ready for the beach
Smart devices like the iPhone have become a part of our every day life that we can no longer live without. We take them with us everywhere we go, even to places where electronic devices were not designed to be.

Some great tips, and a reminder that it’s not only the water and sand, but the heat from the sun too, that could give your cell phone or tablet a bit of a meltdown! The article states that you shouldn’t charge your device at the beach, however, this young lady seems to have other ideas.

It’s probably best just to use the juice in your battery that you have, and then find something else to do. Perhaps watch the world go by through your sunglasses.

If you do want to protect your devices (and it’s highly recommended that you do so), check out a  waterproof jacket for your tablet and keep it safe from the sea. There are many cell phone and tablet accessories that will keep your electronic best friend happy and content, and your day at the beach an enjoyable one, without the stress of finding that sand infested, water damaged screen when you get home.

Feel Like Knight Rider With Your Smartwatch!

Feel Like Knight Rider With Your Smartwatch! appeared first on DiscountCell Reviews.

With the smartwatch being the latest craze from the wearable devices range, Apple have been a little behind its contenders with their own release. However, it doesn’t look as if we will have to wait for too much longer! By October the stores should be stocked and Apple’s latest release ready to go on sale.

Apple smartwatch all set for October launch: Report
Apple is preparing to sell its first wearable device this October, aiming to produce 3 million to 5 million smartwatches a month in its initial run.

It looks as though Apple have declined to comment on its release, but surely it has to happen in the very near future, to keep up with the likes of Samsung. Is 2014 the year of the smartwatch?

The designs do tend to be a little on the masculine and chunky side, so it would be great to see something looking a little more feminine for the ladies. There are a few available, and I think in order to not miss out on a huge portion of the potential market (us females) then there does need to be something a little more lady-fied (if there is such a word!) The release coming up from Google seems to be just as big and bulky.

Google’s First Smartwatches Look Big And Bulky – Business Insider
Just as Google is preparing to roll its new smartwatch software out to the masses, we’re getting a closer look at what the first two smartwatches powered by Android Wear will look like.

It’s an exciting time for this development in technology, and it won’t be long before everyone is plugged into their cell phone via their wrist. Think Michael Knight talking to his wrist watch…that’s what we will all be like!

Designers at Theo Elements are looking to swell the ever-growing ranks of 3rd-party wireless charging solutions on the market with Theo Power – a case fitted with a both wireless charging technology and a removable back-up battery pack.

Using the most common market standard for wireless charging technology on the market today, it looks as though this cell phone accessory could really take off. Especially in situations such as this…

Making sure that the power switch is actually clicked to the ‘on position’ will most definitely prevent frustrations, like the one this guy experienced in the video. However, when you don’t have a phone charger to hand, a device that can charge and protect could be just what you’re looking for.

Protecting and Proactive

Protecting and Proactive appeared first on DiscountCell Reviews.

We see everyone these days with their eyes focused on their cell phone or tablet. Whether they are commuting to work on the train, sat in a coffee shop or even just crossing the road! Sure enough one day we’ll be taking them into the shower! Maybe that is a little extreme, and the new waterproof tablet from Samsung – the Galaxy Tab 4, hasn’t been designed for that purpose, but it gets you thinking.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 Active Gets Trademark, Could be a Brand New Waterproof Tablet
It would appear that Samsung wants to take its waterproofing and dust proofing to tablets, especially since there’s a Galaxy Tab 4 Active trademark out there. IP67 certification is coming to their slates and this is by no means a premiere, since we’ve already got the Xperia Z2 Tablet with this feature.

Protecting your phone or tablet from water and wet conditions is important. These are expensive devices, and you don’t want them to be ruined in that unexpected downpour, or if you happen to drop your device in the sink or toilet (and let’s face it, it happens more often than we would like). Having a waterproof device is a great idea, but if it’s going to be impacting on design and size, then why not use a tablet or cell phone accessory, like a protective case?

Perhaps protecting your phone in the first place is preferable to putting it in a bag of rice, but it’s a good tip to know. We of course are not recommending that you do so, that’s up to you, instead here’s a list of tough cases that will protect your iPhone as much as possible.

15 Tough Cases That Will Protect Your iPhone 5S in 2014 and Beyond (list) – Gadget Review
To protect your investment and your social life, it’s wise to get a case that can handle anything life throws at you – accidental spills, drops and more. We’ve rounded up some of the best tough cases around that will protect your iPhone 5s from life and its unpredictability.

The Otterbox Defender cases appear to be suitable for not only Apple products but for Samsung too.

Get protecting and proactive in the care of your tablet and cell phone devices. Look after them, and they will look after you!

HTC Heating up the Apples!

HTC Heating up the Apples! appeared first on DiscountCell Reviews.

There have been a lot of rumors recently concerning HTC and their up and coming devices. Whispers of an HTC One M8 Prime being in the pipeline have recently been squashed, so all the buzz and the excitement has started to die down. Or has it? It seems as though the Taiwanese manufacturer wants to be out there making some noise and giving the likes of Samsung and Apple a scare or two!

HTC puts One M8 Prime on ice?
It’s sounding like the HTC One M8 prime may have been canceled, but does that mean we’ve no hope for an M8 with a quad HD display?

With the One M8 Prime being put “on ice”, HTC are making sure that their name is still out there in lights by tapping into the smartwatch market with the HTC One Wear.

HTC One Wear smartwatch to launch in late August?
HTC hinted as far back as last October that it was looking to once more branch out beyond smartphones. It hinted at a future smartphone but not until it met “a need, otherwise if it’s just a gimmick or concept.” Jump forward a few months to Mobile World Congress and HTC reportedly showed off behind closed doors a new device based on the Qualcomm Toq and a smartwatch that would come with an AMOLED display.

With the next generation of devices looking like they will be released before Apple, just how does the HTC One M8 compare to the iPhone?

You can really tell the difference in the sound. Just by listening to the first minute of that video, even the most loyal of iPhone lovers, will have a tiny shift in their mindset to explore more with HTC. Could there be another hot contender in the smartphone wars? Watch this space!

Boss Tech Knit Tech Gloves Review

Boss Tech Knit Tech Gloves Review appeared first on DiscountCell Reviews.

If you are looking for quality, inexpensive gloves that will keep your hands warm while still allowing you to use the touch screen on your smartphone or tablet, then the Boss Tech Knit Tech Gloves are definitely the way to go.  The gloves are warm, comfortable, and work surprisingly well considering their low price tag.

Functionality

I was actually thoroughly impressed by these gloves.  At first glance they don’t look like they would work very well on a touchscreen, as they just look like normal knit gloves.  However, I found the gloves to be very responsive when used on both my tablet and my smartphone.

The index finger, middle finger, and thumb each have a special tip that works with touch screens.  Unlike other touch screen gloves, the tips on the Boss Tech gloves do not have any metal tips or threads that can irritate your skin or scratch your touchscreen.  The gloves simply have a special material at the end that allows the natural conductivity of your skin to interface with your touchscreen without exposing your fingers to the cold.

As mentioned before, responsiveness is actually very high using the gloves.  I was able to do all of the normal swipe functions, multi-finger zoom functions, and keyboard typing functions without any problems while wearing the gloves.

I was especially impressed while typing, as the gloves worked just fine even on my iPhone 4′s small keyboard.

Style

The Boss Tech Knit Gloves come in a variety of different colors and styles.  Whether shopping for a teenage daughter or for a professional adult, you are sure to find a pattern that meets your unique style requirements.   I personally prefer black gloves for their versatility.  I can wear them while commuting to work or while playing with my kids in the snow.

Comfort

The Boss Tech Knit Gloves are also very comfortable.  They feature a fleece lining that feels very soft on the inside and that does a great job keeping the cold out while at the same time letting your hands breathe to prevent sweating.

Conclusion

In all, I am very impressed with the Boss Tech Knit Tech Gloves.  For less than $10 you get a pair of warm gloves that work seamlessly with the touchscreen on your mobile device.  Finally you can stay productive during the winter without freezing your fingers or breaking the bank.

Universal Tablet Headrest Mount Review

Universal Tablet Headrest Mount Review appeared first on DiscountCell Reviews.

If you’ve ever taken a long road trip with kids, you know how long every unoccupied hour can be.  Fortunately, tablets and smartphones have made these trips easier by providing entertainment during long rides.

However, big tablets are often hard for children under 5 to handle.  To solve this problem, Naztech has released their universal Tablet Headrest Mount.  Simply clip the mount to the headrest on the back of the front seat, and kids can watch movies and TV shows on your iPad or other device from the back seat.

Pro’s

The Naztech Universal Headrest Mount has a lot of cool features.  First, the soft rubberized contact points on the case make sure that your tablet stays securely in place without getting scratched.

Headrest Mount

Installment is easy.  Simply place the tablet in the holder and squeeze the four corner holders until they fit sunggly.  Because the headrest holder is universal, it can be used to hold any size tablet from 7-12 inches, regardless of make or manufacturer.

Once installed, the headrest mount is fully adjustable and can be positioned in whatever viewing angle works best for your child.  Small wheels can also be tightened to secure the headset mount in specific positions.

Naztech Universal Tablet Headrest Mount

To release the tablet, simply release the lever on the back of the headrest mount.

Con’s

The only downside to the Naztech Universal Tablet Headrest Mount is that it feels a little brittle, and may not last continued usage with frequent installations/uninstallations.

Conclusion

With the durability issue aside, the Naztech universal headrest mount is a great product for keeping your kids entertained during long car rides.  The mount is quick and easy to assemble and then acts as an effective viewing platform for any size tablet in virtually any viewing angle.

HTC One M8 Accessories Review

HTC One M8 Accessories Review appeared first on DiscountCell Reviews.

The highly-anticipated HTC One M8 is a revolutionary new phone.  With upgraded hardware, fast software, and an improved exterior finish, the HTC One M8 is one of the best Android handsets on the market.

However, like most smartphones, the HTC One M8 is vulnerable to shock damage, water, and other potential hazards.  In this review, we’ll take a closer look at the HTC One M8 Accessories available from DiscountCell.com that are designed to power up and protect this stunning new phone.

What Type of HTC One M8 Accessories Should I Get?

DiscountCell.com has over 45 quality cases for the HTC One M8.  However, which case you choose all depends on what you plan to do do with your phone.

For example, if you just plan on using your HTC One M8 indoors and want to protect against scratches and the occasional drop, then the Incipio NGP case is a good option.  The Incipio NGP (Next Generation Polymer) Case is a thin, flexible, silicon-polymer membrane that stretches over the HTC One M8.

However, if you plan on using your HTC One M8 outside, then you may want a little bit more rugged protection.  The Ballistic Tough Jacket Max and the OtterBox Defender both feature dual-layer shock protection and built-in screen protectors.

The first layer of protection is made out of shock absorbing silicon while the second outer layer is made out of a durable, rigid polycarbonate shell.

Charging Options

Also, when shopping for HTC One M8 accessories, don’t forget to invest in a quality charger.  Note I said quality and not expensive.  A good charger should be reliable yet inexpensive, as chargers often get left behind in hotel rooms and rental vehicles.

Discountcell.com has over 50 different charging options available for the HTC One M8, with the least expensive model priced at only $3.95.

iPad Ballistic Tough Jacket

The iPad Ballistic Tough Jacket has a rugged, industrial look.

Protection

The iPad Ballistic Tough Jacket meets military specifications of drop protection by combining four protective layers.  First, a soft inner shock-absorbent silicon lining protects the iPad from scratches and drop damage.  Then, a hard polycarbonate casing adds structural support.  Third, another shock absorbing silicon layer protects the back of the case.  Lastly, a hard polycarbonate layer acts as both a screen protector when the case is a closed and as a viewing stand when the case is open.

Con’s:  No dust or dirt protection.
Recommendation:  The iPad Air Belkin MutliTasker Cover provides professional-looking protection and portability for the iPad Air.  However, if you plan on taking your tablet outside or are prone to dropping it you may want to go with more rugged case.

Manufacturer: Belkin

Price: $57.95 on DiscountCell.com.

iPad Air Belkin MultiTasker Review

The iPad Air Belkin MultiTasker is an excellent accessory for use in the office.  Not only does the case’s all-leather,  slim-fitting design match your corporate style, but the 6 different viewing angles and built-in business card and stylus holders help you stay connected and productive throughout the day.

Protection

The iPad Air Belkin MultiTasker offers basic drop, scratch, and screen protection when closed.  The inside of the case is made out of a very soft velvety material that protects against scratches on the iPad’s screen and body.

iPad Air Belkin MultiTasker Case

Belkin MultiTakster Interior

However, one of the downsides of the iPad Air Belkin MutliTasker Cover is the fact that the case does not offer any screen protection when open.  To address this issue, I recommend pairing the iPad Air Belkin MutliTasker Cover with a good adhesive screen protector.

Also, the iPad Air Belkin MutliTasker Cover does not protect against dust or water damage regardless if the case is open or closed.

Functionality

The iPad Air Belkin MutliTasker Cover includes several features to enhance the functionality of the iPad Air.

First, the iPad Air Belkin MutliTasker Cover has holes and access to all of the various ports, cameras, and buttons on the iPad Air.  To increase convenience even more, the case features two business card pockets.

In addition to working as a portfolio, the iPad Air Belkin MutliTasker Cover doubles as a viewing stand.  Once opened the case can be positioned in six distinct viewing angles.  Two rubber stoppers on the bottom of the tablet cradle ensure that the iPad stays in place while positioned in each angle.

Installation is very easy.  Simply snap the iPad Air into the tablet cradle inside the case and you are ready to go.  To remove the iPad Air, just bend the corners of the case back and the iPad Air will pop out.

Conclusion

The iPad Air Belkin MutliTasker Cover offers a professional look and increased functionality that are great for use in the office. However, if you are looking for more thorough protection to use your tablet outside, I recommend investing in either an OtterBox or LifeProof case.

LG Flex OtterBox Commuter Case Review

LG Flex OtterBox Commuter Case Review appeared first on DiscountCell Reviews.

LG Flex OtterBox Commuter Fast Facts

Manufacturer: OtterBox
Dimensions: 16.5 cm (6 1/2 inch) x 9 cm (3 1/2 inch) x 1.5 cm (5/8 inch)
Price: $39.95 at DiscountCell.com

Pro’s

The LG Flex OtterBox Commuter case offers durable protection to the LG Flex without taking away from any of the phone’s features.  The LG Flex OtterBox Commuter features 2 layers of protection.

LG Flex OtterBox Commuter

The OtterBox LG Flex Commuter Case features two layers of protection.

First, the LG Flex is protected on all sides by a soft, shock-absorbent silicone layer.  Then, a durable yet flexible hard-plastic case adds additional structural support to the entire phone.

The most striking feature of the Commuter Case is the fact that it can still bend and flex with the LG Flex despite having two protective layers.

LG Flex OtterBox Commuter

The OtterBox LG Flex Commuter Case can “flex” along with the phone.

Also, while the LG Flex OtterBox Commuter offers access to all of the various ports, cameras, and buttons of the LG Flex, the case includes special doors and flaps to protect any ports or openings from dust and debris.

LG Flex OtterBox Commuter

The OtterBox Commuter offers full access to all of the LG Flex’s speakers, cameras, buttons, and ports.

Con’s

While the LG Flex OtterBox Commuter does come with an adhesive screen protector, the case is not waterproof.  However, if water manages to get between the case and the phone, the phone can be easily removed before the water causes damage.

Also, the LG Flex OtterBox Commuter case does not come with a belt clip.  However, given the large size of the LG Flex, a belt clip would not be very practical as the phone is too big to carry comfortably on a belt.

Conclusion

The LG Flex OtterBox Commuter case provides quality light-weight, dual layer protection that can “flex” along with the phone.

The only downsides to the case are the fact that it is not waterproof and that it does not come with an included belt clip.

LG Optimus Zone Accessories Review

LG Optimus Zone Accessories Review appeared first on DiscountCell Reviews.

The LG Optimus Zone is an Android-powered prepaid smartphone available from Walmart for $40.  While the phone does not come with the latest hardware or software, you do get a 3.2″ screen, Android 3.2.6, a decent camera, and 4 GB of storage.

At such a low price, it doesn’t make sense to invest in an expensive case.  Really anything more than $20 is too much, because at that point you’ve already paid for 50% of the cost of the phone. If you spend more than $20 on a case, It would almost be cheaper to just purchase a new phone if something were to happen.

The key to maximizing the value of your LG Optimus Zone is to purchase low cost accessories to complement your phone.  The following reviews several low cost LG Optimus Zone accessories to power up and protect your phone without breaking the bank.

Cases

The Lg Optimus Zone is compact yet relatively light weight.  The phone measures 4.04″ tall x 2.42″  wide x 0.47″ thick and only weighs about 3 ounces.

LG Optimus Zone Accessories

3 Low-Cost LG Optimus Zone Pouches

Because of the phone’s low cost and generic dimensions, an inexpensive pouch is a better option than a pricey custom fit case.

The right type of pouch depends on where you will be using your phone.  If you plan on using the LG Enact primarily indoors in an office setting, then we recommend using a leather case that provides a high level of protection while maintaining a professional appearance.

However, if your organization does a lot of field work and you are looking for more thorough protection, we recommend a more durable case like the Naztech Gladiator or the Nite Ize Cargo Clip Case.  Both of these cases are made out of thick, durable nylon canvas and are well suited for outdoor use.

The Naztech Gladiator is especially popular with law enforcement because it is available in 4 different colors and includes a heavy-duty belt clip that is perfect for police patrol belts.

Chargers

Lg Optimus Zone Accessories

Two different charging options with micro-USB cables.

Perhaps the most important LG Optimus Zone accessories that you can buy for your organization are quality chargers.  The LG Optimus Zone is powered by a relatively weak 1540 mAh battery and needs to be recharged frequently.

DiscountCell.com has over 50 different charging options available for the LG Optimus Zone starting at just $3.95.  Low cost per unit is especially important for purchasing officers who frequently have to replace chargers left behind by employees in hotel rooms and rental vehicles.

Conclusion

The LG Optimus Zone accessories reviewed in this article are perfect for use in government agencies and in large organizations because they provide high-quality function at low cost.
