Samsung Galaxy Note 5 Cases Review

Samsung Galaxy Note 5 Cases Review appeared first on DiscountCell Reviews.

The Samsung Galaxy Note series has been very successful for Samsung and the people who use the Note phones love their devices. We reviewed cases for the Galaxy Note 5, specifically looking at cases that provide protection against scratches and drops. We know this is a high priority, especially since it's a large phone with a lot of surface area. People no longer just want protection, though. They want style as well. There's a large variety of cases available, with a variety of protection levels.

A thin TPU case is great for anyone who just want to keep their phone scratch free. Because it is a very thin case, it does not add much protection if the Galaxy Note 5 is dropped, just keeps the Note 5 looking pretty and helps add a little bit of texture so the phone is easier to hold. The TPU cases come in a variety of colors and is very cheap. If you're looking for minimal protection, something that doesn't cost much but will keep the phone looking good or add some style, this is a great option.

SAMGN5-BL-1TPU

Spigen Slim Armor Case offers mid-level protection. It has two layers, an inner soft TPU core that keeps the phone looking pristine, as well as offers a bumper if the Galaxy Note 5 is dropped. The inner core is wrapped in a polycarbonate shell that gives more protection if dropped. It has a comfortable texture, giving extra grip. It feels very comfortable in the hand, both with the extra layer on the outside, or if you'd rather, you can have just the TPU case and that is very comfortable as well. An additional benefit to the outer core is a small kickstand that can be pulled out at any time. This case also comes in a variety of colors and runs between $20-30.

Another case that offers a moderate amount of protection is the Speck Candyshell Grip Case. If you're prone to dropping your Galaxy Note 5, this is a great option. It has additional rubber grips along the sides of the case – not enough to make it difficult to put the phone in and out of a pocket, but enough to give a great amount of grip. The rubberized inner core gives plenty of shock absorption if the phone is dropped. The cool thing about this case is the inner core extends around the front of the phone enough that if the phone is dropped face first, it'll hit the bumper instead of the screen. The outer layer is plastic with the rubberized grip around the back and side. It seems like it'd be slightly bulky, however, we found it to be very thin. This case only comes in a few colors and runs between $30-40.

73067-1909

None of the cases we reviewed are waterproof, sand proof, dust proof and are not considered rugged cases. They only offer protection against scratches and drops. Each is unique in what it offers, so there's not one that's necessarily better than the other. If you need thin, scratch protection, the TPU case is a great option. If you need more protection and the convenience of a kickstand, the Spigen case is the one for you. If you need extra grip, the Speck is the obvious choice. All cases run for under $40 and will last the lifetime of you phone, or until you're ready for the Galaxy Note 6.

Apple iPhone 6 Cases will fit iPhone 6s

Apple iPhone 6 Cases will fit iPhone 6s appeared first on DiscountCell Reviews.

With the new Apple iPhone 6s coming out, you're probably wondering if your iPhone 6 case will fit or if you have to spend extra money getting a new cover as well. Good news – Apple is doing you a favor and made the iPhone 6s the same size. However, if you want a new case and want it ready for the arrival of you new phone, you can grab one today at a great price. We reviewed 3 covers that offer a mid-level of protection.

The Magpul Field Case has an interesting feel and texture and provides a substantial amount of protection on the iPhone 6 and 6s for a mid-priced cover. The thickness added is minimal but the texture gives a good amount of grip. All of the ports are open and accessible, which is nice. The cover, however, is not waterproof, dust proof or sand proof. If you drop it, though, the phone will be protected.

MAG484-BLK

The Ballistic LS Jewel Case is very thin, with extra protection on the corners. It goes on the iPhone 6 and 6s easily and feels very comfortable and soft in our hand. The cover can get a little sweaty if you hold it in your hand for a while, but it does slide easily into and out of a pocket. Again, this case is not waterproof, dustproof, or sandproof. The reinforced corners do a great job protecting the phone when it's dropped.

The Incipio NGP TPU Jelly Case is also a thin case, and differs from the other two by being a very rigid cover. It still goes on and off the iPhone 6 and 6s easily, but feels rigid in our hands. There is a matte finish on the cover, giving it texture. This is also another case that is not waterproof, dustproof or sandproof, as all ports are open and available. Because it's so rigid, it does protect the phone well when dropped.

All of these covers come in a variety of colors and are all priced under $20. The biggest difference in these covers is the way it feels in our hand. If you're looking for texture, go with the UAG. The Ballistic case is very soft and the Incipio is the exact opposite, but very solid. All of these cases, in all colors, as well as other covers for the iPhone 6, are on www.discountcell.com.

Portable Battery Packs Review

Portable Battery Packs Review appeared first on DiscountCell Reviews.

Portable chargers are incredibly convenient. They used to be large and hold only a slight charge, but now chargers are very small and hold enough power to recharge a phone, tablet or in some cases, computer. We reviewed a few chargers and evaluated their size, power, and how fast their charge time is. All of the chargers we tested are low to mid range price and amps. Many people will find these chargers are perfect for an emergency and can only charge one device at a time.

The first portable charger was the Juicebar Powertube High Capacity Portable Battery Charger. About as big as a tube of lipstick or lipgloss, the Powertube holds enough charge to fully recharge any phone or just add 12 hours of talk time if you stay connected to it while using it. It takes about an hour to recharge and holds that charge for 30 days. Priced at under $30, this is a great budget charger for someone who wants a small charger for emergencies.

JB-11535

Mycharge Amp Mini Rechargable Backup Battery is the second portable charger we tested. Holding 2200mAh, it has enough power to fully recharge a phone or tablet. It has a 1A output, so it takes a few hours to recharge the phone fully if you’re not using it, and if you stay connected it will add 10 hours of talk time. It takes a few hours to recharge the battery pack and will hold the charge for a month. Push a small button on the side to see how much power is left. The pack measures 2.8 by 1.4 by 0.9 inches, making it small enough to slip into a pocket of a bag. This battery is durable and while priced around $30, you can expect it to give you a reliable charge when you need it.

am22b-a

The last one we tested was the Incipio OffGrid Portable Backup Battery. It’s about the size of a small smartphone and holds 400mAh of power. It can charge your phone, then your tablet and probably still have a little power left over. The 2.1A port halves the charging time of the previous two batteries, so it only takes about an hour to recharge a phone and a little longer for the tablet. It has high-speed inputs to speed up charging time, however, because you’re charging a larger battery it does take some time to fully recharge. The battery has a band to conveniently hold the cable in place when you don’t need it. This is a large pack, it won’t just slip into your pocket, but for $40-$50, the amount of power it holds is very worth it.

IP-679-CYN

Out of the three portable battery packs, we would recommend the Mycharge for someone who needs a reliable charge in an emergency. For someone who regularly needs to charge while on the go, the Incipio OffGrid is well worth the price. These batteries, as well as packs that charge two devices simultaneously, can be found at www.discountcell.com.

Cellular Car Mounts Review

Cellular Car Mounts Review appeared first on DiscountCell Reviews.

It’s pretty wide spread knowledge that using your phone while driving is a bad idea. While we know almost everyone knows this, we also know it’s difficult to keep your hands off your phone when there are helpful apps available, music to listen to, maps to look at. Car mounts keep your phone available and secure so you can access your music, maps, voice assistants, and whatever else you need. We checked out 4 mounts and tested their grip strength on the phone, strength of the suction mount, portability and if they can handle a phablet.

The first mount we checked out was the Scosche MagicMount. This mount is unique, as it uses a magnets to hold the phone in place. A very thin metal plate attaches to the back of your phone or case and attaches to any magnetized surface, even if the plate is attached to the phone and you have a case over it. The mount attaches to your dash with adhesive and the magnetized mounting area can be positioned however you need. The phone itself, then, can be placed in whatever orientation you need as well, making this the most customizable mount. It is not portable, however. The strength of the magnet is very strong and holds any phone securely. It can handle any size phone and, as an added bonus, the metal plate can be placed anywhere that is magnetized, not just the mount.

MAGDM MAGDM2

The second mount we looked at is the Naztech Dashboard View Mount. This mount is 100% portable. The base is a gel-filled pack with anti-slip grip material on the bottom, making it solid and secure. The mount is attached to a ratcheting bar with a suction cup on the end of it. This allows you to mount it to either the dash base or the windshield. The ratcheting bar can be moved in any direction and in any position. The clamp that holds the phone is strong and fit a Galaxy Note, which means it can hold pretty much any phone. For larger phones, however, you may have to remove the case to make it fit.

10550_1

The third mount is the iOttie Easy Car Mount One Touch XL. This is obviously made for larger phone or phones with rugged cases. It has a one-touch button release and the clamp holds the phone extremely well. In order to compensate for the weight of a large phone, the suction cup is also oversized, giving it more surface area to grab onto the dash or the windshield. The mounting head can be positioned in any direction. For a large phone, this is a great option.

TT-003969_1

The last mount in this review is the Tackform Ultragrip. Overall, this one is the highest rated by users. It can be attached to the windshield or dash and the suction cup is one of the best – it will hold in extreme heat and cold and over bumpy roads. The clamp opens to accommodate phones from 2 inches to 3.4 inches, which includes almost all phones, even the Galaxy Note family. Phones will fit with their cases as well. The grip tension can be adjusted, impressing us with the strength of the grip. Tackform included two stabilizing bars – this mount will last forever.

Bluetooth Speaker Reviews

Bluetooth Speaker Reviews appeared first on DiscountCell Reviews.

Whether you’re heading off to college and want a sweet Bluetooth speaker to spice up the dorm room, or just looking to add some tunes around your house, there are plenty of Bluetooth speakers available that are not only high quality with great sound, but very affordable. We got three Bluetooth speakers and checked them out.

The first speaker is the Naztech Klub N35 Speaker. Made from aluminum and measuring 8 by 3 by 3 inches, it’s lightweight and easily portable, but strong. A microphone is built in for speakerphone conversations. The Li-Ion battery lasts for hours and is easily rechargeable with any micro-USB connection. Great sound with ultra bass, you’ll be amazed how good the music sounds. It is on the small side, which limits the sound. For a large room or an outdoor event, you’ll probably want something bigger.

The SuperTooth D4 Bluetooth Speaker is a great mid-priced speaker. Loud enough to fill a large room, the sound on the SuperTooth is fantastic. A strap on the top makes it easily portable and with a battery that lasts 12 hours, it can go anywhere. Music will sound like it’s intended to sound through this speaker. While this speaker is portable, it’s not water or dust proof and can be damaged outdoors. It does not have a built in microphone, and is meant only for listening to music. You can connect via Bluetooth or a 3.5 audio cable, making it accessible to phones, tablets, MP3 players and computeres.

The Braven BRV-X Outdoor Bluetooth Speaker is a better fit for an outdoor event, especially poolside or on a boat. Built to survive the elements, you’ll be as impressed by how much damage it can take as you are by the quality of the sound. Clean, deep bass, crisp treble and mid-tones, no matter how loud you play it the sound is great. The BRV-X is the most expensive speaker in our review, and if you’re looking for a speaker that can take a beating, this one is worth every penny. It has a noise-cancelling microphone built in for wireless calls. The battery will last for 12 hours and is easily rechargeable.
