The Ballistic Hard Core Case for iPhone provides unparalleled drop and shock protection.  First, a Ballistic shock absorbent polymer layer cradles the phone.  Then, a tough, impact-resistant polycarbonate layer adds structural support.  After that, an additional layer of Ballistic shock absorbent polymer wraps around the whole phone except for the screen.  Last, a removable outer layer of silicon with plugs for all ports adds even more drop protection.

The Ballistic Hard Core Case offers more than 4 layers of protection.

In fact, the Ballistic Hard Core Case for iPhone has so many protective layers that it actually bounces when dropped onto a hard surface.

However, because the phone Ballistic Hard Core Case has so many layers of protection, I was a little disappointed to find out that the case is not waterproof.  In fact, if a little bit of water drips behind the case onto the phone, all of the layers make it difficult to quickly get to the phone and dry it off.

I also was not a big fan of the built-in screen protector.  While the protector does guard against scratches and allows for full usage of the iPhone’s touchscreen features, it distorts the image and reduces the screen’s overall resolution.

Apart from decreased screen resolution, the Ballistic Hard Core Case for iPhone offers excellent accessibility to all the various buttons, cameras, speakers, and ports of the iPhone.  Despite several layers of protective silicon and polycarbonate, all of the buttons are easily pushed down.  Also, the Ballistic Hard Core Case for iPhone has unique mesh speaker covers that allow sound to pass through but not dirt or dust.

Overall, the Ballistic Hard Core Case for iPhone has an industrial feel to it.  The case is heavy (almost as heavy as the iPhone 4s itself) and bulky.  However, this is expected considering the high amounts of drop protection and is accomodated for by a durable belt clip.

The belt clip securely holds the Ballistic Hard Core Case for iPhone and doubles as yet another layer of drop protection.  The belt clip also features a secure spring mechanism to stay closed and can swivel a full 360 degrees.  One of the downside of the belt clip however is its size.  The clip is just barely to big to be comfortably worn on a normal belt and barely too small to be carried on a police duty belt or construction work belt.

Conclusion

The Ballistic Hard Core Case provides some of the best drop protection in the industry.  With more than 4 layers of quality protection, an iPhone equipped with a Ballistic Hard Core Case can easily sustain a fall from up to 12 feet high.  However, quality drop protection comes with higher purchasing cost and increased bulk to the case.
