The Belkin Air Shield is a solid, one-piece rigid case for the iPad Air.

Protection

The Belkin Air Shield offers substantial drop protection.

The Belkin Air Shield offers very high levels of drop protection.  The case meets the U.S. Department of Defense 6 foot drop test without causing any damage to the iPad Air.

One of the downsides of the Belkin Air Shield for iPad Air is the fact that the case does not offer any screen protection.  To address this issue, I recommend pairing the Belkin Air Shield with a good adhesive screen protector.

Also, the Belkin Air Shield does not protect against dust or water damage.

Functionality

The Belkin Air Shield allows access to all of the cameras, ports, and buttons of the iPad Air.

The Belkin Air Shield for iPad Air has holes and access to all of the various ports, cameras, and buttons on the iPad Air.  Also, the case features special front-facing speaker channels that direct sound toward the user, not the back of the iPad.

Installation is also very easy.  The case can be quickly snapped over the back and sides of the iPad Air and will securely stay in place.

The Belkin Air Shield has a comfortable feel to it and is relatively easy to hold.  However, the case shows fingerprints very easily and needs to be wiped down regularly.

Conclusion

The Belkin Air Shield offers quality drop protection that is great for use indoors. However, if you are looking for more thorough protection, I recommend investing in either an OtterBox or LifeProof case.
